As the winter chill sets in and we are mid-way through the holiday season, we hope a spirit of joy and celebration is the thread that brings your family together. Here at Winaukee, we believe that the holiday season is the perfect time to extend the camaraderie, community and competitive spirit that define our summers on Lake Winnipesaukee. Let us help you sprinkle a little camp magic into your holiday season!

Embrace the Outdoors

Step into a winter wonderland! Find time to get outside by playing a friendly game in the snow, skiing, snowshoeing, taking a winter hike or even fort making are great cold-weather outdoor activities. Organizing holiday-themed soccer matches or a frosty basketball tournament gets the whole family outside for some fresh air and movement. Encouraging Santa hats or elf costumes for an extra dash of spirit is always a good idea!

Campfire Cheer

As the sun sets (way too early), gather around the campfire, fireplace or solo stove for stories of holidays past, s’mores, hot chocolate, songs, and the warmth of friendship. Roasting marshmallows over a fire brings back joyful memories for family members across generations and is the perfect way to create a warm holiday glow.

DIY Decorations and Crafts

Tap into your son’s creativity by organizing holiday crafting competitions. From ornament making to cookie or gingerbread house decorating, let his artistic skills shine! Add a little friendly competition to bring some excitement. We also think this is the best way to decorate your home. We’ve seen what comes out of Arts & Crafts in the summer, these boys can create some real artistic masterpieces!

Summer Camp Showdown - Friendly Competitions to Boost Holiday Fun!

Pick a fun game to bring everyone together; family trivia, Bingo, a scavenger hunt, karaoke, Marshmallow jenga or even a bake-off!

Secret Santa - Shenanigans Style

Play your ‘secret santa’ or gift exchange game as usual, but add a special twist.. Shenanigans! Once all gifts are piled in the same place, tape sticky notes or small pieces of paper to the bottom of each gift with a different ‘shenanigan’ that must be performed before the gift can be opened. Maybe it’s a ‘pie in the face’, a round of trivia, a singing contest, minute-to-win-it game, a physical challenge or any other fun campy game!

Here at Winaukee, we think the holidays are a time to celebrate, enjoy a little fun competition and create memories that last a lifetime. As families come together to embrace the holiday spirit, may the warmth of camaraderie and the thrill of competition make this season at camp truly special. Wishing you all a winning season of joy and festivities!
