As a lifeguard, you will work as part of our Waterfront Team overseeing the safety of our lake swim program, inflatable aqua park, designated boating areas, and our watersports program. All lifeguards will also serve as counselors with additional cabin responsibilities. We offer on-site training for those who do not currently hold valid lifeguard certifications.
We offer an extensive watersports program including waterski, wakeboard, paddleboard, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and more. You will provide quality instruction to our campers, operate camp’s boats safely in accordance with our protocols, and serve as a lifeguard when needed. All instructors will also serve as counselors with additional cabin responsibilities.
As a videographer or photographer at Camp Winaukee, you’ll work as part of our Digital Media team capturing live action moments at camp. You will spend your day capturing photos or videos for our parent website; images may be used for printed materials and other marketing purposes in the future. This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to build their portfolio.
Each summer we hire a team of nurses and student nurses to work in our two on-site health centers. As a nurse or student nurse at Winaukee, you will provide campers and staff with professional health care. Nurses and student nurses assist with distribution of medications and triage/treat patients.
As a Row Leader, you will be responsible for the wellbeing of all campers in a particular age group/groups and act as the supervisor of residential life for that cohort of campers and staff.
As our Program Director, you will be a spark of positive energy and creativity, helping make the magic of camp come alive by planning and organizing all daily camp activities and special events.
Regardless of your college major, all camp experiences allow you to learn and develop skills that will enhance your job marketability. The benefits go far beyond a paycheck, too. Experience as a camp counselor translates into excellent management and personnel skills
Many Colleges and universities will accept summer camp employment as credits hours towards required internships. We will assist in satisfying the terms of the credit requirements for most majors including sports administration/management, education, physical education, nursing, athletic training, and more.
After two months of working together, you’ll have met amazing people and shared an incredible experience together. You will meet some of your closest friends through camp; people who have similar interests, values, and know how to have fun.
Camp is more than just a summer job, it’s a life changing experience. It’s fun, freeing, and an incredibly positive way to spend your summer. Every day at camp you’ll learn things about yourself, about other people, and the world.
Working at a summer camp opens up endless possibilities. You will meet people from all over the US and the world. Working at camp is a great opportunity to develop an international network of friends and contacts.
Your day will start when you wake up in your bunk overlooking beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. Once you brush your teeth and throw on your clothes, Mainland camp staff will participate in one of three activities with their campers — Polar Bear (jumping in the lake…brrrr!), Boot Camp (an exercise class to get your heart pumping), or Cheetah Club (a quick jog around camp which can turn into a race with one of your campers). Island camp staff will participate in an all-camp flag raising.
Next, enjoy a delicious breakfast with your bunk in the dining hall followed by a campus meeting. Now, you are ready to spend the day moving around from activity to activity with your bunk (general counselors) or to teach your sport to our campers (activity specialists). After a few hours of fun, lunch is served followed by rest hour. This is the time to reset for an afternoon of exciting activities and instruction.
Before you know it, it is dinner time! After dinner, you will enjoy the shenanigans of another campus meeting. You never know what will happen!! Finally, you and your bunk will participate in an exciting evening activity. And, then it’s time to get ready for bed. And, lights out!
Camp Winaukee is an all-boys overnight camp. We offer a broad range of sports programming, waterfront activities and outdoor adventure programming and much more! Programming differs for each of our camps. The Mainland Camp provides a nurturing and structured program in which campers have 50% choice in their daily activities. The Island Campers have greater autonomy and are able to choose 100% of their daily activities.
Camp Winaukee is located in Moultonborough, New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in New England. There are several towns closeby including Meredith (20 minutes away), Laconia (30 minutes away), Wolfeboro (40 minutes away), and North Conway (50 minutes away.)
Boston, MA, Freeport, ME, and Portsmouth, NH are approximately 2 hours away.
Yes. It is actually advantageous to have a car since we are a 15-20 minute drive from town. We also have staff parking areas. Be prepared for a bumpy, gravel road going in-and-out of camp. Cars are also parked outside all summer.
If you don’t have a car, no worries! There are other staff members scheduled for each time-off period. Most are more than happy to carpool and offer each other rides.
Cabins are basic but comfortable. They are located on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee. Each cabin has a private bathroom with a toilet, sink, and hot water. Large shower houses are located along each of our cabin rows.
Before camp begins, we hold a leadership training program that every member of our summer camp staff must attend. This gives us an opportunity to teach you our philosophies and equip you with the skills you’ll need to have a successful summer. It’s also a great opportunity to bond with your new colleagues and immerse yourself in our community.
The health and safety of each individual is our highest priority. We have an extensive health and safety plan with protocols that will ensure we operate safely. At Winaukee, we have two health centers on our property, both staffed 24 hours a day. We have access to a Camp Doctor, seven Registered Nurses and two student nurses each summer. Our Health Center Director, Nurse Lisa, is a highly trained nurse who has worked with us for 12 summers. Our medical team has a vast variety of experience in emergency medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine.
