Hey Winaukee Family!
Guess what? Summer is COMING. (Cue the screaming, happy dances, and colour war chants!) Before you zip up those duffels and suitcases, here’s the lowdown on what you REALLY need to bring for some of the epic events we’ve got planned!
You don’t have to wear Winaukee gear every single day, but having a bunch of Buff (yellow) and Blue shirts ready to go = genius move.
At Winaukee, every day is a good day - but special event days? Those are next-level!!!!
They are the moments when camp feels more alive, when campers and staff team up, energy is unmatched, the opportunity for crazy outfits and the whole camp comes together to celebrate. Whether you are wearing a Santa Hat at breakfast for Christmas in July, sprinting into the lake dressed a superhero for Halloween, showing off your stars-and-stripes on the Fourth of July, or repping your favourite sports team loud and proud! Special Event Days give everyone a chance to shine!
It’s not just about what you wear (although I appreciate a good wig or a hilarious costume), it’s about the energy that YOU bring. It’s about getting a little silly, trying something new, and making memories that will have you laughing until next summer.
From massive beach parties to pajama breakfasts that somehow taste even better because you’re still half-asleep, these are the days you’ll remember, the ones where you invent inside jokes with those around you, win prizes, and build traditions that last way beyond the summer camp season!
So when you’re packing, don’t hold back. Bring the crazy socks, the funny PJs, the soccer jersey you love, and all the Buff and Blue you can find. Because Special Event Days aren’t just days on the calendar! They’re the heart of what makes Winaukee feel like home!
SOME SPECIAL EVENT MUST-HAVES:
🎆 July 4th - USA Party
Bring your most outrageous red, white, and blue outfits. We’re talking face paint, flags, wigs, you name it. Contests for Best Dressed + Most Original- bragging rights are on the line!
🎄 Christmas in July
Rock your best red and green. Ugly sweaters? Santa hats? Elf onesies? YES. I may or may not still be rocking an inflatable Santa costume!!
👻 Halloween in July
Pack a costume, a spooky mask, or just go wild. We love homemade and hilarious costumes too — creativity wins here. WAAM will be busy on the run up to Halloween!
🏖️ Beach Party
Think tropical vacation mode on your private island: Hawaiian shirts, neon sunglasses, flip-flops… bring all the summer vibes!
🛌 PJ Breakfast
Yes, you heard that right, breakfast in pajamas. Staff: Walmart = PJ wonderland on your day off. Campers: Bring your funkiest, silliest sets from home! Nothing better than pancakes and PJs.
🌎 Represent Where You’re From
Got a flag, a soccer jersey, or a cool shirt that represents your hometown or country? Pack it! We LOVE showing off where our camp family comes from. This is the perfect opportunity to rock your home country’s team jersey or colours.
⚽ Soccer Showdown: Rest of World vs UK & USA vs Rest of World
If you have one, make sure you bring your favourite soccer team jersey! I’ll be repping the mighty reds- COME ON LIVERPOOL!
Top Secret Packing Tip: Hooded Poncho Towels. Yes, they sound funny. Yes, they are LIFE CHANGING!! Perfect for when you’re shivering after Polar Bear Club and sprinting from the lake to your cabin. 10/10 would recommend.
Bottom line: Pack for FUN, bring your spirit, and don’t be afraid to go ALL OUT.
