No Technology? No Problem!

Here at Camp Winaukee, we believe that stepping away from screens is essential for personal growth. That’s why we maintain a strict device-free policy — campers are not permitted to bring cellphones or any devices that allow them to connect to the outside world instead of staying mentally present at camp. This screen-free environment allows boys to fully engage in the camp’s programs, whether they are playing team sports, participating in outdoor adventures, or competing in Color War.

This extended break from screens also strengthens social skills. Without digital interruptions, our campers have plenty of opportunities to interact face-to-face, form meaningful friendships, and learn how to navigate group dynamics. In short, they are able to utilize as much as possible the benefit of going to a traditional sleepaway camp - lots of time for deeper relationship-building. Through interpersonal interactions, campers are able to practice empathy, resolve conflicts, and work as part of a team.

Being away from screens helps campers reconnect with nature and their own well-being. Daily exposure to the outdoors — whether on the fields, in the woods, or on Lake Winnipesaukee — boosts mood, reduces stress, and improves focus. Camp Winaukee’s structured yet varied program (campers have the freedom to select and do the activities they are most interested in!) supports both physical and cognitive growth, helping them make the most of every moment spent away from technology.

Camp Winaukee is proud to be considered one of the best summer camps in America and a top employer for summer jobs and internships.
