At Camp Winaukee, our football program is a standout favorite for boys who love the game. It’s a space where athleticism meets strategy, and where the energy of the turf brings out the best in every camper.

Skill-Building for the Next Level

Whether your son is a seasoned quarterback or is just starting to find his footing on the field, our program is designed to sharpen his “football IQ.” We move beyond the basics to focus on the technical side of the game:

Precision Passing & Receiving: Specialized drills for route-running and hand-eye coordination.
Strategic Playmaking: Learning the “why” behind the game, from defensive positioning to offensive flow.
Agility & Footwork: High-energy conditioning that makes them faster, more responsive athletes.

The Winaukee Huddle: Strength in Character

The Super Bowl is about the trophy, but Winaukee football is about the Huddle. It’s where boys learn that a great play is only possible when the whole team is in sync. It’s where a Mainland camper learns to encourage a teammate after a missed catch, and where our older Island boys model what it means to lead with intensity and sportsmanship.

When a camper makes a diving grab or a perfectly timed flag-pull, the sideline doesn’t just cheer for the play, they cheer for the hustle.

Beyond the Turf

The beauty of the football program at Winaukee is that the lessons don’t stay on the field. The discipline required to master a new play and the resilience needed to bounce back after a tough drive are the same traits that help our campers grow into confident young men.

Ashleigh Jackowitz

Ashleigh grew up in Boise, Idaho and got her first taste of sleepaway camp in 2006 when she was hired to work on the waterfront at Camp Walt Whitman. She spent 5 summers there before joining the full-time team. Ashleigh attended Williamette University in Salem, Oregon as a college athlete in Volleyball. Prior to starting full time in camping, she took the chance to travel around the world, to every continent, over the course of 3 years. Teaching English in South Korea for a year was definitely a highlight! She has been involved with the American Camp Association as a Tri-State Conference Program Track Chair and is a speaker at multiple camp conferences. She also is a passionate advocate of Project Morry, an organization that helps youth from under-served communities attend summer camp, having served for many years on their Dare to Dream Committee. Her favorite role is as mom to their sons Cooper & Henry. Ashleigh, Matt, Cooper & Henry currently live in Ridgefield, CT.
