Winaukee provides excellent sports instruction anchored in a traditional sleep-away camp environment. Over 100 years of tradition is weaved into campers’ daily lives as they learn new skills, build confidence, develop meaningful relationships and become better athletes and teammates.
Boys are immersed in a developmentally appropriate setting that adjusts to their needs as they grow with us. Our distinct Mainland and Island campuses share our Winaukee values while meeting your son where he is socially and athletically.
A typical Winaukee camper loves to compete, regardless of athletic skill level, and is part of a brotherhood where the person comes before wins and losses. Winaukee campers’ confidence levels and social independence grow as they are nurtured in a safe community.
Camp Winaukee is more than a sum of it’s parts — the sports, the trips, the tournaments, the tradition, the competition, the staff — we are creating life changing experiences for boys who return home as more confident versions of themselves.
Traditional ropes course activities and weekly hikes throughout the Lakes Region & White Moutains. Weekly trips to mini golf, water parks, bowling, beaches in Maine, major & minor league sporting events and more!
There will be anywhere from six to ten campers per bunk depending on the age of your son. There are at least three counselors per bunk. Counselors stay with the campers in the bunk overnight to ensure round the clock supervision.
Your son’s counselor might be someone from the United States or perhaps someone from Spain, Australia or Scotland! All of our counselors undergo a rigorous interview process, references are collected and checked, a criminal background check is conducted and we also check every employee against the national sex offender registry.
We recruit staff based on a unwavering commitment to helping young people build the skills necessary to be successful in their sport. We hire the best of the best who leverage sports competition and activities to instill our values of spirit, brotherhood, sportsmanship and community within your son.
Camp Winaukee is not a uniform camp. We do ask that your son comes to camp with a few required logo’d items for inter-camp competitions, tournaments and trips that can be purchased through our clothier, The Camp Spot.
Winaukee offers fresh fruit, yogurt, many different types of cereal, bread (bagels, toast, english muffins, muffins, etc.) and a hot meal (such as eggs, pancakes, waffles) at breakfast daily. Lunch and dinner always have a fresh salad bar & deli bar or pasta bar in addition to the main meal. We provide snacks and unlimited fresh fruit throughout the day.
We encourage letters from you as the best way of communicating with your son. Positive, supportive communication lets him hear from you in a constructive way. You may want to send a letter a few days prior to the session to ensure that it is received within the first few days of his arrival. Or, even better, is waiting for him on his bed the first night! Additionally, we have partnered with Campanion to provide email service for our camp families.
Winaukee offers comprehensive swim instruction through the American Red Cross learn to swim program. Swim lessons are offered as frequently as needed for indiviual campers to improve their skills and gain confidence in the water.
